Can you post the output from the following commands:

netstat -rn

ls -l /etc/resolv.conf
ls -l /etc/named.conf
ls -l /etc/nsswitch.conf
ls -l /etc/rndc.conf

cat /etc/resolv.conf
cat /etc/named.conf
cat /etc/nsswitch.conf
cat /etc/rndc.conf

domainname
hostname

and possibly ls -l and cat of any other "named" configuration files?

Back to the real problem, I am a bit stumped why the nameserver will not listen on the active interface? That is the core of the issue, after resolving that the rndc commands should work.

Sorry to side-step the core issue here.

Hi Cary,

In my experience ARPA and STREAMs patches are
good places to start. I however have those patches on my 9.2.0 nameserver and I cant reproduce this issue either. The HP Rep. should also be able to load the March 2003 Patch bundle and test ? Did you send them a swlist output ?

What I have:

My network related patches are a bit newer than what comes on March 2003:

PHNE_28089 1.0 cumulative ARPA Transport patch
PHNE_27703 1.0 Cumulative STREAMS Patch
PHNE_25388 1.0 LAN product cumulative patch

Also you can patch your lan card based on the driver you have, if you tell me what driver you have I'll give you the latest patch id for that.

The latest patch for that btlan driver at 11.11 is PHNE_23465.
