Need Help regarding Login failure in HPserver(9000/800)
Hi,
I have faced a sevior problem with my HPserver(9000/800). The problem is, from any user telnet to the server is allowed. But whenever any user, other than root tries to login from CDE console, or using exceed like terminal simulator, loggin to server fails without showing error message. To resolve the problem I have copied the .dt directory from root to pther specific user..but it still does not help. If you have any idea then please let me know the solution.

Re: Need Help regarding Login failure in HPserver(9000/800)
Are there any errors in $HOME/.dt/startlog or /var/dt/Xerrors , syslog.log or /var/X11/Xserver/logs/X0.log
Are your users accounts nfs mounted or using an odd shell ?
what's the O/S here ?
try running dr_dt under /usr/contrib/bin/X11
it could be a permissions problem I guess is so dr_dt is quite good possibly candidates *could8 be /tmp and also /var/spool/sockets dirs.
If they attempt to login to CDE what do they see ie do they ever see CDE's desktop ? is this a hang or are they simply returned to the CDE login panel, does the screen go black and you see an egg timer or cursor ?
Has this been a permanent feature if not what changed ? any mention anywhere about tooltalk or errors relating to it ?
