Need to stop/start the EMS service on a HP-UX server.
I am currently automating some EMS job, which requires me to shutdown the EMS, perform the job, and then restart the EMS back.
Could anyone tell me, How to start/stop EMS from command Line.
Thanks,
Sarwar.

Re: Need to stop/start the EMS service on a HP-UX server.
DO NOT use
/sbin/init.d/ems stop
or
/sbin/init.d/ems start
If you view the script /sbin/init.d/ems
it says:
This script does not stop the EMS Services
also if /var/stm/data/tools/monitor directory exists then
Do not run this script manually from the command line prompt
EMS monitors may not behave as expected. If you have performed this action already, execute the command
/usr/bin/rm -f /var/stm/data/tools/monitor/.system_shutdo
wn_ems
You can ignore this message in /etc/rc.log and /etc/rc.log.old
to be in the safe side, just modify the line in /etc/rc.config.d/ems:
EMS_ENABLED=1
to
EMS_ENABLED=0
and restart the server.
After you finish, revert it back and restart the server again.
Hope you can afford the downtimes.
Am just being cautious!
hope this helps too!
kind regards

Re: Need to stop/start the EMS service on a HP-UX server.
Do you mean the EMS (Event Monitoring Service) service itself, or just the EMS Hardware Monitors, or HA Monitors?
What job are you automating? When you do it by hand, how do you stop EMS?
