NEED TO TAKE THE IGNITE BACKUP OF BLADE SERVER

hi GUYS,
I want to take ignite(TAPE) backup of one of my blade bl860c server running hp-ux 11.23 .
I dont have the provision to connect any external drive . I have one hp-ultrium MSL-4048 tape library which is configured with DP .
Is there anyway to take ignite backup from the tape library .
The library is conneted to sanswitch throug FC .

If you are able to see this tape through ioscan you can perform a ignite backup, try make_tape_recovery.

I cannot see any tape drive from ioscan .My libraray is in FC LAN .

is there any way to configure my MSL 4048 tape drive in my servers .

no you cannot use the tape drive of another system for creating recovery tapes, what you could do is, create a make_net_recovery image of your system on an ignite server, and use this image to clone/recovery/boot a system. Please read the man pages for make_net_recovery, really a great recovery tool, let me know if you have any questions.

I dont have disksapce on my ignite server .I wanted to take it on tape directly .Anyway i will do it through ignite server .

make_net_recovery tool, is good choice so that you can eliminate management of multiple tapes, and in your case cost!
and besides one advantage running make_net_recovery on the client is the ability to use crontab to automate backup process.

You should try to put your archive on a nfs server
make_net_recovery -s iux-server -a nfsserver:/archivefile ...
like that, you don't have diskspace problem.
We use a filer to put the archive.
