Netbackup 5.1 Server fails to connect to a client in DMZ
Netbackup server 5.1 on a HPUX box fails to connect to a client in DMZ which is a solaris 7 box.
It's configured to use the vnetd.
bpcd log in the client shows these errors:
18:38:06.584 [11405] <4> bpcd valid_server: hostname comparison succeeded
18:38:06.585 [11405] <2> bpcd main: output socket port number = 13782
18:38:06.786 [11405] <2> vnet_vnetd_connect_back_socket: vnet_vnetd.c.343: status: 9 0x00000009
18:38:06.786 [11405] <2> vnet_end_connect_back_ira: vnet_vnetd.c.664: status: 9 0x00000009
18:38:06.787 [11405] <16> get_vnetd_socket: vnet_end_connect_back failed: 9
18:38:06.787 [11405] <16> bpcd main: get_vnetd_socket failed: 25
forward and revers name resolution goes ok and bpclntcmd reports everything correct.
Tried to telnet following ports and it looks ok.
client->masterserver bprd
client->masterserver vnetd
client->mediaserver vnetd
But, when I tried to telnet on these ports, it connected, but it showed the message "couldn't set locale correctly"
media server -> client bpcd
master server ->client bpcd
Thanks in advance. Any help is highly appreciated.

Re: Netbackup 5.1 Server fails to connect to a client in DMZ
Hi
I guess yr site has a firewall which separates the master server and the client. pls make sure that u have all the ports ( configured for netbackup services ) opened between Client and Master server in " BI-DIRECTIONAL " manner.
