netperf.org not accessible?

Anyone else no longer to access http://www.netperf.org ?

I can't get at it any more - I'm getting a 10061 Connection refused message.

Has the site gone? Rick?

Hi Duncan,

Looks like this site is down. You could try mailing the webmaster.

Re: netperf.org not accessible?

Probably some problems with your connection. Maybe you will be able to reach it with proxy. If you need something from there, I can download it for you.

Re: netperf.org not accessible?

Duncan,

For what it's worth, I tried Netscape 7.0 under HP-UX 11i and Windows XP and IE 6.0 under XP. None of them could get there.

Re: netperf.org not accessible?

So how come Alex can get at it - Are you sure you're not accessing a cached version Alex?

Otherwise, hopefully Rick Jones will see this thread as the US comes online...

Cheers

Re: netperf.org not accessible?

I think I can reach it because I'm currently connected to the internal HP network.

Re: netperf.org not accessible?

netperf.org responds to a ping, ftp and telnet but the webserver is not running or blocked.

Re: netperf.org not accessible?

Nice to see that folks have such faith in my seeing these forum posts - which is only by the grace of the automagic email notification. And... one of the mirrors of my homedir went belly up over the weekend - had this happened then I might never have seen it :)

Anyway, I think what happened was the disc filled and then the httpd went belly-up. I've restarted the httpd.

FWIW, if you were looking for netperf bits, netperf.org simply directs one to ftp.cup.hp.com :)

happy benchmarking - btw, anything in particular you wanted netperf for, or just a matter of curiousity?

Re: netperf.org not accessible?

Hello Rick,

If you need, I can spare 100-200MG of my webspace for mirroring your site.

Re: netperf.org not accessible?

Good to see it back up Rick.

I'm simply using netperf to benchmark network performance across a bunch of servers in a new environment for one of my customers. They have a 3 tier e-commerce application with front-end web based linux servers, and HP-UX application and database servers. I just wanted to collect some stats *before* we hand the environment over to the customer, as these can be rolled out later if there are subsequently network associated performance issues.

Incidentally the servers in question will be running HPUX11iv2/IA64 and will NOT have the standard ANSI C compiler installed, so if anyone has a pre-compiled version of netperf for the Itanium version of HPUX11.23 that would save some effort... Otherwise I may have to look at trying to build netperf with gcc - is this something that is likely to work?

Thanks,

Duncan

Re: netperf.org not accessible?

Netperf should build with gcc, certainly, it does on other platforms. The configure script (I'm assuming you are going to use 2.4.0-rcmumble with the new configure script support) There is a _slight_ chance that it will build with the bundled compiler - I think the bundled cc on Itanium groks function prototypes. I just never have an Itanium system without the proper compiler to check :)

Re: netperf.org not accessible?

Is everyone here building their own copy of netperf? Anything wrong with the precompiled version that comes with the DDK?

Re: netperf.org not accessible?

I doubt there is anything "wrong" with the precompiled version, but it may have or not have optional features you do or do not want.

I suspect it may not be quite as "up-to-date" as compiling from the latest sources.

However, for basic IPv4 TCP/UDP stuff I suspect it is fine.
