SolutionAfter the installation, go to sam, go into kernel modifications and go into drivers. Make sure gelan and/or igelan drivers' status are listed as "In ...... In" on both columns. If not, go to actions menu and change the status to In and then this will require a reboot. After the reboot is complete, you should see it enabled.
Hope this helps

Re: network adaptor disable
After you install the drivers, be sure to install Hardware Enablement Patche Bundle,
You may download the bundle from:
http://www4.itrc.hp.com/service/patch/releasePage.do?BC=patch.breadcrumb.main|patch.breadcrumb.releaseIndexPage|&releaseId=5013-3299
Enjoy :)

Re: network adaptor disable
Easiest way to enable is in SAM. Highlight the card -> ACTIONS -> ENABLE.
If is does not enable make sure you have a LAN cable attached.

Re: network adaptor disable
You may also wantto look at the LEDs.
Here is the description of what they mean:
http://docs.hp.com/en/5971-4263/apas01.html
You should be able to tell if you have a connection problem from there.

Re: network adaptor disable
what does the ioscan output say??
is it claimed ?
try
ioscan -fnC lan
then
you can do the command
lanscan
which will provide you with more info on the Hdw State check for column 4 which should show it as up
you an also use lanadmin to view/change few settings like state/speed etc.
thanks

Re: network adaptor disable
it was only one simply reason to cause that happened: the cable did not connect correctely(it meaned that there was out-of-connection happened)! but what i do not understand is: why it would be a disable status for the adaptor when the cable was not connected correctely?
thank all

Re: network adaptor disable
The different states are good connection, connection failure or no connection, and the card cannot say that no connection is due to a bad card, bad cable or no cable. Eventually, there is another state in error if there has been a connection failure or soft error. But for a hw error, if the card is not enabled, then it is disabled.
