Network boot issue

In the man pages for ignite, it stated only D and K class can do a network boot. Does anybody know if J and N class servers are able to do network boot (and/or via boot helper)? Thanks

Re: Network boot issue

N class yes. you might need a boot helper if the boot server is not in the same LAN

Hi Huyen,

try reading document B2355-90738.pdf from www.docs.hp.com (page 60).

Good luck.

Re: Network boot issue

All currently orderable HP-UX servers and workstations (with the exception of the V-class) support network boot/install.

All of the currently orderable HP-UX servers and workstations (with the exception of the V-class) support the Boot ROM (aka BCH) syntax:

boot lan. install

Where "" is replaced with the IP address of your Ignite-UX server or boot helper.

Some legacy (ie. not orderable systems) also support network boot/install. All of the s700
machines support network boot/install with slight variations in the BCH syntax. The classes servers that do _NOT_ support network boot/install are:

E/F/G/H/I/V class systems
