network card configured incorrectly...for service guard

Noticed that service guard does not failover because its primary is on a gigabit ether card, and its stanby is on a 10/100...

What is the best way to correct this...???...

Re: network card configured incorrectly...for service guard

I do not think the gigabit or 10/100 setting is the reason why LAN failover did not occur.

can you list the conf file here ? or the result of cmviewcl -v

How did you test LAN failover ?

Re: network card configured incorrectly...for service guard

Nedy,
I hope by failover you mean switching of IP between the primary and standby ethernet cards.
It wouldn't hurt if you can manually set up the 10/100 to be the primary and Gigabit as standby for testing purposes and check if everything works the way you want. The do a failover testing.
I would suggest loking into the /etc/rc.config.d/netconf for the NIC configurations.
Also using same NICs for NIC redundancy provided by Serviceguard is not a bad idea.

Thanks

Re: network card configured incorrectly...for service guard

There is another problem here, as you can use a 10/100 Ethernet lan to be the standby for gigabit ethernet lan.
I would check the packag elog on the node, the syslog on the node.
Also do a netstat -in to see if it is configured..
One other thing is which card is the standby, a built-in one? if so, what system and OS is this on?

Re: network card configured incorrectly...for service guard

Hi Nedy,

The n/w combination you have selected is not recomended. You may face performance problem when you are switching from Faster NIC to slower NIC because of bandwidth. Because te slower NIC will not be able to sustain the band width of the interface. It is advisable to have same type of card.

It would have been helpfull if you would have posted the network status and Heartbeat status..
