Re: Network card UNCLAIMED UNKNOWN

UNKNOWN means that the driver for that card is not installed in HP-UX yet. You can use SAM to look for the new hardware and add the driver. A reboot is required.

Re: Network card UNCLAIMED UNKNOWN

Shalom Ahmed,

On early versions of HP-UX 11i,64 bit isntallations, NIC cards that were known to the prior OS 10.20 or 11.00 were not detected in HP-UX 11i v1 64 bit.

I noticed that when I started using the September 2005 Core OS that this stopped happening and NIC cards were detected normally in 11i.

So.

Check the Core OS cd you are using and the installation for 32 or 64 bit. I'm guessing you did a 64 bit install on a D class that will permit this.

I could do a more exact guess if I knew which model D machine you had. A D320 would not fit into my guess because the 32 bit OS is the only one that will install on it. A D380 could easily meet this criteria.

The fix if I'm right is to get newer Core OS Cd's and start again.

Re: Network card UNCLAIMED UNKNOWN

Good instincts.

If its a fresh OS install, September 05 will probably detect the card.

I can't speak on the intermediate releases, I didn't use the ones between May 2004 and September 2005 in 64 bit mode.

Re: Network card UNCLAIMED UNKNOWN

You should be able to add the LAN driver from your Application CD set. You'll need the model number of LAN card to find the fileset.
