Re: New Mirror HP-UX software for ITRC members
I had some trouble with SSL modules on my new rp3410 (11i) for the 32bit build (64bit builds still have no SSL stuff), which I hope to have tackled in the correct way.
Please use http://mirrors.develooper.com/hpux/ for downloads

Re: New Mirror HP-UX software for ITRC members
By the time you read this, all 5 builds should have arrived on the main mirror.
Please wait till tomorrow to have http://mirrors.develooper.com/hpux/ synced, and fetch it from there
If I read my mail correctly, beepz has serious trouble in keeping in sync. I can't do anything about that.

Re: New Mirror HP-UX software for ITRC members
# cd /usr/local/pa20_64
# ranlib lib/gcc/hppa64-hp-hpux11.00/3.4.2/libgcc.a
I've just tried to use it to build Perl, and where 3.4.1 did not complain, 3.4.2 does. The ranlib solves the issue.

The Perl Camel is a bit of "rent a camel", I used him/her/it last week. Forgot to park it back at Merijn's piramid :-)))

Re: New Mirror HP-UX software for ITRC members
1. I cannot use the directories that are normally used for ports, like /opt/perl and /usr/local
2. I don't get enough disk space
3. Testdrive systems have no network access beyond ftp and telnet, making many tests undoable
4. Testdrive systems don't support X forwarding
5. Testdrive systems have a limited lifespan, and I don't want to start over and avor and over again
6. Users don't get the amount of disk space I normally use for my ports and tests :)
7. I've not hit too many problems in porting OSS to Itanium, so it might not be too much trouble trying that yourself
If PROCURA however needs to support Itanium for any of our customers, it is is very likely that there will be new sections on my site
On a side note, it is not unlikely that I will re-upload the gcc-3.4.2 builds, because GNU released gdb-6.2.1 today, and that gives me a double reason to do it again: 1. gd, 2. the extra ranlibbed libgcc.a's
Just look at the announcements to see if I did it or not

Re: New Mirror HP-UX software for ITRC members
I have re-uploaded *all* the gcc-3.4.2 builds, which now do
- include gdb-6.2.1 (also for 10.20)
- do not need an additional ranlib on libgcc.c
Go get it tomorrow :)

Re: New Mirror HP-UX software for ITRC members
November 4, 2004
The [1]GNU project and the GCC developers are pleased to announce the
release of GCC 3.4.3.
This release is a bug-fix release, containing fixes for regressions in
GCC 3.4.2 relative to previous releases of GCC.
-->8---
All 5 versions made it to my site. Give the mirrors 24 hours to pick them up, and then please use http://mirrors.develooper.com/hpux/ to fetch the most recent gcc build

Re: New Mirror HP-UX software for ITRC members
All mirrors seem to have synced.
I'm having severe trouble in Compiling Qt-3.3.3 on HP-UX-11.11 using g++
All is going quite smooth on 11.00
I'm suspecting the argument parser of 'ld', but I'm not sure.
Qt docs clearly state NOT to support 64bit builds on HP-UX. Core dumps proved they might be right.

Re: New Mirror HP-UX software for ITRC members
I am just a newbie, my question seems funny but could you give me some suggestions:
I don't know what can I find in that site? I have never learnt for PERL language so that I don't understand! Should I need to learn to PERL language?
What can I do?
Thanks in advance!
Regard,
Jimkery

Re: New Mirror HP-UX software for ITRC members
You just pick what you *need* and follow the install instructions on the site, and off you go.
Perl is a versatile and widely used scripting language, also available on every HP-UX system, but on older systems, the installed version is *very* old (perl4), and the versions available on my site are complete and recent, but more important, available for HP-UX 10.20, and HP-UX 11.00, OS versions dropped by the HP proting centers, where all (or at least most) of the software I host are also available.
If you are not into scripting, or not in a position to read/write/use scripts, don't bother to learn Perl. If you however want to script your admin tasks or just want to have fun with HP-UX on another level, please learn Perl. Links on where to start learning Perl are in the Perl section on my site.
GNU gcc is a *free* ANSI C compiler. If you already have HP C-ANSI-C or aCC (C++), you probably don't need it, since HP's compilers are usually much better. But some Open Source projects do not follow the ANSI guidelines as much as they should, and only test with gcc, making you need gcc for some tools.

Re: New Mirror HP-UX software for ITRC members
perl-5.8.6
the shiny bright new latest maintainance releasy of our (I hope, at least mine) scripting language
included in this version are Tk-804.027 and DBI-1.46 and a lot of other useful stuff. Many modules were updated since the previous release.
All were built with GNU gcc-3.4.3 also available on the site

Re: New Mirror HP-UX software for ITRC members
Both GNU cpio-2.6 and GNU tar-1.15.1 have been uploaded to my site (10.20/32, 11.00/32, and 11.11/64). The 11.00/32 bit build run fine on 11.11
All were created with GNU gcc-3.4.3, since there are still problems in creating the utils with HP C-ANSI-C.

Re: New Mirror HP-UX software for ITRC members
My first attempt is a SD that contains both 32bit and 64bit builds of perl5-5.8.6-dor for HP-UX 11.00 built with GNU gcc-3.4.3.
My main page contains the installation instructions, and bzip2 if you need it.
If I get enough feedback from people that prefer SD's over tbz's, I'll consider switching. One disadvantage of these SD's is that they are bigger, because they contain both builds. Advantage is you only have to download once, and that your installation will be registered in the SD structure, so you can see it in swlist. My install location for Perl5 is still /opt/perl and /opt/perl64.
I also expect a new gcc very soon, now that the gcc-4 track already reached 4.1. If a stable gcc-4 is released, I will not put maint builds of the gcc-3.4 track on anymore.

Re: New Mirror HP-UX software for ITRC members
For 10.20, 11.00/32, and 11.00/64 I shipped it the old tar/bzip2 way, for 11i (11.11), it's now a single depot that contains bot the 32 and 64bit build.
10.20 and 11.00 still have gdb-6.2.1. 11i now has a fresh rebuilt gdb-6.3

Re: New Mirror HP-UX software for ITRC members
... Clemens != procura
... Clemens offers my main mirror
... I'm very glad with that service
... That you should NOT fetch the big downloads from Clemens' site
... That your enthousiasm still motivates me to continue
... That I'm now not only the only site that offers 10.20 builds, but
... Also the only to offer 11.00 builds
... That gcc-4.0.0 not only BUILDS faster than 3.4.3, but
... That gcc-4.0.0 also produces objects that run faster than objects compiled with 3.4.3
... I actually checked that with the development version of perl5
