New SAS disk installation for DRD

						Hello,
I just learned HP-UX 11.31 support DRD function.
so I'd like to add new SAS disk to rx3600 server. Its SAS array has number from 1 to 8 and current root volume disks are plugged in number 7 and 8.
My question is
Do I need to add next disk to number 6?
and the server will recognize disk right away after I add it into SAS array?
Thank you in advance.

Just insert the disk where ever you want and run ioscan and insf. I would prefer the first slot.

Hope this helps!

						Hello,
SAS controllers use unique addressing scheme which is quite different from SCSI.
If you pull out a SAS disk and attach to a different slot or bay, the device files remain same..due to unique addressing of disks.
At the same time if u connect a replacement disk for a disk that's gone bad then the device files gets changes.
But in your case you are just adding a new disk/array , so you can straight away use the new device files for creation of the PV.
