new telnet session always not successful

Hi ,
There is a strange problem when using Microsoft Telnet client for connecting (new session) to
rp3440 server (server B),new server . We use Microsoft Telnet client to connect to rp3440 from Windows XP PC.

Connection ( new session) to server B using Microsoft telnet is not successful every time.
When i am not able to connect to Server B then i telnet to server A
and use "telnet server b" command and login.Later i am able to telnet new session to server B successfully.
What parameters or config files i need to change to resolve the problem

Hope your suggestions will help me to solve the problem.

Regards
Kumar

Re: new telnet session always not successful

This sounds like you have an inconsistent network connectivity between your windows machine and serverB. Are these machines on the same subnet/vlan or is there a firewall in between them ? If there is a firewall, I'd strongly suggest you talk to the network folks and convince them to put a sniffer on this segment connecting winXP machine to the serverB and do the same to serverA, which you do not seem to have any problems at all. And compare the setup differences.

Also, when the telnet connection fails, what error do you get ? Is it just timing out or does it say something like connection refused or similar ?
