NEWBIE: Need help setting up Intranet/Internet Settings...
I purchased a HP9000 series 735, and during the setup, I bypassed the
installation of an IP address, etc. I have it running stand-alone.
Now that I have Cable Modem and a router, I want to add the HP9000 onto my
Intranet/Internet. I forgot the instructions for doing so. Can anyone help?
I cannot seem to find the information on it in either help system.
I haven't upgraded the OS to 10, I am still running at 9.x.
I am also looking for the shutdown command, the sequence outlined in the online
help does not close all files. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanx

Re: NEWBIE: Need help setting up Intranet/Internet Settings...
Hi
This will works on 10.20 and above i don't know about 9.x, but must be same.
To assign a IP cd to /etc/rc.config.d/ directory.
add your IP and netmask in netconf file.
or use set_param command or use sam.
reboot the system.
use whereis or which to find your shutdown. i.e whereis shutdown or which
shutdown.

Re: NEWBIE: Need help setting up Intranet/Internet Settings...
1. Install version hpux 10.20 at minimum, maybe even hpux 11. THis is because
a) your level of software is no longer supported by hp
b) you are not y2k complient
c) you will get into all sorts of problems trying to
put any decent hardware or software into it.
If you still feel lost. Run a tool called
sam which has the network setup for you.
