nfile

Hi ,

Is there any way to to find how many files are open in nile by a process ?. I have HP-ux 11.00 .

Hi

As you're probably aware you can use glance to view nfile (option t). You can also use the 'F' option in glance to see Process Open Files.

Alternatively 'lsof' is an excellenet utility for viewing open files.
EG
# lsof -p

If u want to see the system wide usage of nfile , u can use 'sar -v 1 10' and see the value of file-sz.

Hi Mohan,

To view no. files opened by a process, the best command/utility is "lsof".
In addition, this is very powerful to see the network ports used by which process.

You can find lsof for HPUX here.
