Hi,

Does NFS work in HP-UX Trusted Mode?

Thanks,
Elena.

Re: NFS and Trusted Mode

Yes. NFS is network file system and has nothing to do with authentications, which is handled by the Trusted mode configuration. (A couple of sites at my previous job were using NFS and Trusted mode just fine.) However, NIS and Trusted mode do not work together.

Re: NFS and Trusted Mode

Hi Elena,

NFS works well with Trusted mode. I didnt see any problems with that so far.

Re: NFS and Trusted Mode

I was told that a user account "nobody" will be eliminated during the conversion to trusted and I thought that this account is used by NFS.

Re: NFS and Trusted Mode

You are right what you heard in case of HPUX 11.11 and previous releases.

As a workaround on these releases, you need to note down the current "nobody" entry in /etc/passwd file and put the same entry back in /etc/passwd file after converting the system to "Trusted" mode.

This problem doesn't occure in 11.23
