NFS client
Dear All,
i have installed NFS client for windows to be able to access my shares on an HPUX machine,
everything is working fine, i can now share folders from the HPUX machine and i am able to mount them to the windows machine and i do the mapping to a drive letter and i can browse in these folders. when i try to do the mapping i am asked for a user name and password so i do provide those for the root, while when i try to run an ovw command for openview it never registers with the running services on the HPUX server, can someone tell me the reson ?
is there something i didnot notice while configuring the NFS so i cannot now register with my services on the unix box ? is there any sort of naming, what accounts shall i use between the NFS client and server ? is there any restriction for the accounts ?
Thanks

Re: NFS client
Its a bad idea to use NFS, because the data is not encrypted, and its a bad idea to use the root account.
If you are a windows user, you should set up an account with the very same user name as you log onto Windows on the HP-UX box. You could of course use Windows to authenticate shares on the HP-UX machine, but thats beyond the scope of this post.
Even though it uses the NFS client, you might want to use the CIFS server/client package for robustness and security.

That is the package to run on the HP-UX server. The neat thing is the CIFS/Samba client is already built into windows. You can return that NFS client you bought for windows.
