I have two HP-UX box. One of them is my nfs server. From the second i am trying to mount one directory with automount. But i can not set any parameter. My conf files are;
/etc/auto_master
/- /etc/auto.f
/etc/auto.f
/flash -rw,bg,intr,hard,timeo=600,wsize=32768,rsize=32768 server:/flash
but when i executed the mount -v
/etc/auto.f on /flash type autofs ignore,direct on Wed Oct 11 15:38:18 2006
i can not see any parameters.
But also i can mount with directory with mount command
mount -o rw,bg,intr,hard,timeo=600,wsize=32768,rsize=32768 server:/flash /flash
mount -v
vtnode1:/flash on /flash type nfs rsize=32768,wsize=32768,NFSv3 on Wed Oct 11 15:47:39 2006
what could be a problem ? how i can mount server directory with direct automount with specified parameters.

SolutionAfter updating the automounter files, I'm assuming you're running /usr/sbin/automount because you see the /etc/auto.f line.
The /flash filesystem doesn't get mounted until there is some attempt to access the filesystem. "cd /flash" would force the mount.
Once that's done, you should see the arguments you're looking for.
Additional note: ensure you're using the enhanced automounter. If you're using 11.11, download it from software.hp.com. It comes standard w/11.23. The enhanced automounter is significantly more stable than any previous automounter versions.

Re: NFS direct mount
hardmount and automount don't mix too well.
You may also have to try and access /flash to get it to mount via automount.

Re: NFS direct mount
yes, i am useing automount and i accessed to the directory. But nothing changed. But i solved my problem by inserting my parameters in /etc/auto_master file.
/- /etc/flash.f -rw,bg,intr,hard,timeo=600,wsize=32768,rsize=32768
