NFS mount permission denied

hello there,

i needed to mount a directory from server1 to a client as root, it give a permission error.

eg:
mount 172.xx.xx.xx:/u01 /tmp1
nfs mount: 172.xx.xx.xx:/u01: Permission denied

kindly explain is i have to make anyu host entries

Hi

is /u01 on the server shared/exported with correct permissions?


on the server you need to export this filesystem.

exportfs -o root=,access= /u01

also perhaps need to edit /etc/exports on the server if this is not a temporary share.

from the client

execute


showmount -e
if that shows correctly, then

mount :/u01 /tmp1


etc etc

If you are using 11iv3 then look for the /etc/dfs/dfstab file instead of /etc/exports.

And you can verify that the filesystem was exported like this:

# showmount -e nfsserver

In the output you should find the exported filesystem and the client it was exported.
