nfs server and netgroup
Hi,
I want to setup /etc/exports file with netgroup entries. Few workstations behave in a strange manner. In some workstations I receive access/permission denied error. I have tried only on HP workstations though we have sun ultras.
The exports file look like this.
/home -anon=0,access=@netgroup:host1:host2
Should I put @ symbol before netgroup name?
Manuals and HP sites gives examples without @ symbol. with and without @ a few workstations mount the shares. a few not.
Also, We are using both dns and nis for name lookup. also the netgroup will be served by nis.
Atlast my conclusion is I could not use the netgroup entry in /etc/exports. If I put any netgroup name,it is equal to access to everybody.
Is there any body who is successfully running an environment ( nis netgroups, dns , and nfs secured via netgroup ) ???
That too with 10.20 servers ? pls help, atleast by providing some good links to docs?
A lot of thanks in advance.
From,
Karvendhan M.

Re: nfs server and netgroup
Hi Karvendhan,
YEs We run excetly same environment.
You need this on /etc/exports
/home -access=houhosts
houhosts = netgroup (setup on NIS server).
You need Patch PHNE_22125 (HPUX 11.00)It requires reboot. This patch is for NFS. This will bring up /usr/sbin/exportfs to upto date so it can support -access=netgroup in /etc/exports file.
