NFS server 'localserver' not responding still trying

Hi,

I am trying to install Oracle to my new HP-UX RP5470 system. However, when I startup Oracle installation script (runInstaller), my system keeps print out "NFS server 'localserver' not responding still trying", where localserver is this HP system. I searched web and somebody suggested to disable auto_mount may resolve the problem, therefore I changed AUTO_MOUNTER=0, however, the problem persistent. I even can not kill the ongoing Oracle installation process with -9 option. Can anybody tell me what else shoud I do? Thanks in advance.

Peter,

If you mounted your Oracle CD using pfs_mount command and could not kill the process, you probably need to reboot.

Check the media for scratches they can cause 'not responding still trying" errors.

Thanks. It was the Oracle CD problem. By replace the CD, the installation was very smooth.
