When I transfer all maps from the NIS master server to an Slave server with sam, I found this message in /var/yp/ypxfr.log:

reason: no such map in server's NIS domain

reason: no such map in server's NIS domain

Just check that do you have any files on master server under /var/yp/"domainname" directory?
The other thing is that if you are configuring new slave server than your slave server entry should be there in MAster server identifying that this is a slave server.
for that you need to update ypservers table.

On my master server, in /var/yp/ingd (ingd is my NIS domain), I have all files maps but many of theses files are null.
On my master server, I identifying that this is a slave server.
Why on my master server in /var/yp/ingd there are many null file.

on master
#ypinit -m and it will ask you couple questions it will rebuild all your maps.
If it is in production environment then be careful. You have to look in your make file in detail.
It is perfectly ok to have null map there. It indicates that you are not using that as nis map.
