When I boot the X-terminals and halt the boot halfway I can ping to the X-terminal.
When I don't halt the boot the x-term will give the following: No network connection ... and I cannot ping anymore.

Re: No network connection Xterminal
After this the xterm will use bootp to find info on it's ip etc. (from bootp server on same lans /etc/bootptab)
The xterm will then procede to connect to it's fileserver to load the Xserver.
I recommend using ip addresses and not dns lookup names.
To blow your nonvol:
between first beep and second beep of xterm press
left shift then 0
Timing must be spot on, you may have to try a few times.
If that doesn't work try keeping Alt F9 depressed during boot.
Then Use F12 to configure the xterms Network configuration.
Do you see anything in the diagnostic/logs?
Later,
Bill

Re: No network connection Xterminal
Also has this problem suddenly occurred ?
Also can you view the xterminals
log -> interupt boot process and go into setup -> Diagnostics -> log what's the exact syntax or the error(s) ?
Next what sort of networking is involved here 10/100 bt and what
is in the way ie switches routers or hubs ? Also are the xterminals on the same subnet as the servers ? It would be worth your while if possible having nothing in between server and terminal and on same sub-net for testing purposes .... it would rule out xterminal config issues.
lastly at a guess if spanning tree options on switch etc can be set it would be worth your while setting them to off/on and see if any improvement occurs.
Also what patch level are the servers running out wrt enware
s/w ? and what version of enware s/w is being used(only applicable if HP xterminals)

Re: No network connection Xterminal
I cannot see the log's. there is no button for log's under diagnostics.
We are working with sw B.07.10. On the X-server the xdm-deamon is not running !!!
The exact syntax of the error is:
No ethertwist hub detected
File server 134.37.120.11 down or unreachable
Invallid fileserver :''
Failed to load X-server: Network is down

SolutionWhat OS are you using
get enware 7.11 and the latest patch
For 10.20 7.11 patch shows
2. PANap19485 - Envizex and 10/100 networking
When booting through an auto-sensing 10/100 switch
(HP ProCurve 10/100 J3295A), the Envizex could no longer
download the binaries/config. from the server.
Messages are displayed :
"No cable"
"No etherTwist hub detected"
