Not seeing tape library over Fiber?
I have a L2000 running 11.0 and one Tachyon fiber card /dev/td0. I have the fiber plugged into a brocade 16 port switch. On the switch I have a HP-DLT and a HP-TL891 and a DELL - Powervault. I can see all of these fine. I have just hooked up a new Quantum DX100 (Virtual tape library). I initialy ran a ioscan and seen them. I ran a insf -e and created device files. They are showing up now NO_HW instead of claimed. I can see everything else fine and work them but the Quantum. I have disabled, enabled and reset the fiber card and all the /dev/rmt/*. I re-ran the ioscan and insf -e and everything shows up fine and working but the Quantum still shows NO_HW. Any suggestions? Also, all the units (DELL, Hp's and the quantum are all setup on the same Zone so that I am seeing everything.)
Thanks
Larry

Re: Not seeing tape library over Fiber?
On the brocade switch, is the port(s?) that the DX100 plugged into hard-coded to a specific speed? If so, try setting the port speeds to auto-negotiate. We had a problem here recently, where after some firmware updates on our ADIC tape library, we could no longer see the tape devices until we reset the switch ports.
Use the portcfgspeed command to set the speed
> portcfgspeed,0
'0' sets it to auto-negotiate

Re: Not seeing tape library over Fiber?
Actually the Tachyon (HP_ card) is a 1-Gig card and the Quantum has a 2-Gig. I checked and the Quatum was defaulted to 2-Gig. I tried to put it at 1-Gig and Auto-negotiate but that didn't seem to make a difference.
