Has any one ever seen 10.2 try to start CDE environment, by going to a white screen, then toggling back to the boot sequence for a sec or two then back to white screen. This continues until I power it down. I was screwing with the NFS stuff and it kept stopping at the boot up process. I went into single user mode and fixed the NFS prob. CDE is the last thing it start when it boots and it says Ok before it tries to rescreen to the CDE login (which goes to a white screen then toggles back and fourth every 20 sec or so).
This machine worked fine before I went in and messed with it but I did not touch any monitor stuff.
Can anyone please help me figure out what the heck is going on and how to fix it.
Thanks,
Phil

Solution
sounds like you have messed with teh networking configuration.
CDE needs to correctly resolve the hostname to ip address, and if it cannot, you coul dget the symptoms you are seeing.
If you know what you did, go back and undo the changes and see if that fixes it.
if so, you need to verify what it is you are doing, and then try to work out why CDE cannot resolve this correctly

Re: Not starting CDE invironment
Thank you.
I did change the ip address on a network card. Maybe that is it. I will try it on monday.
Again thanks alot, this gives me some thing to look at, I never would have expected an ip address to be the cause.
