npar-commands on a rp7410 - unsupported platform?
CIM_ERR_NOT_SUPPORTED: The requested operation is not supported: "@30:The platform is not supported.[]"
Note: Unable to get any HP_NParComplex information.
Error: Unsupported platform.
But that IS a supported platform - do anyone know what the problem might be?
Best regards!

Re: npar-commands on a rp7410 - unsupported platform?
I'd take that as a message that you need to check firmware and patching on that system.
You may even need a hardware call because this can be triggered by improper system board replacement.
Next step: OS patching, perhaps remove and re-install vpar/npar software.

Re: npar-commands on a rp7410 - unsupported platform?
Sorry for the late anwser - I was not in the office for two weeks.
I am sure that this is no problem of hardware replacement, because no hardware was replaced. I installed that system with a make_tape_recovery tape from a system with no cells. npar-commands were never used on this machine. HP_UX (11.11 on PA-RISC) is running without problems - only commands regarding cell-configuration does not work.
Make_tape_recovery is not like an image, but installs completely new with the same information and configuration as the source system, but the installation of HP-UX is done normally like from CD. NPAR ist installed, bus it doesn't work as I wrote.
Any ideas? Every idea is welcome!
Best regards!

"Make_tape_recovery is not like an image, but installs completely new with the same information and configuration as the source system, but the installation of HP-UX is done normally like from CD. "
Not exactly. It is restoring the tar archive from the tape. It cannot install what isn't there.
This is not a golden image.
Patching may solve this.
Anyway, what gives

Re: npar-commands on a rp7410 - unsupported platform?
I guess some of the CIM server related stuff is missing. I would try to install (a newer version) of the nPar manager/provider from the application CD - this will also install all the related bundles.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: npar-commands on a rp7410 - unsupported platform?
Thanks for the quick anwser. In this location there is no CD available - do you have an idea where to download that stuff? In IT Resource Center I only find some patches but not the whole piece of software.
Best regards!

Re: npar-commands on a rp7410 - unsupported platform?
Everything you told me is now downloaded and installed (NPar Provider and CommandView SDM (Partition Manager)completely), but no changes - same error maessage and same reply on "cimprovider -l -s".
Have you got any other idea? Every help would be great!
Best regards,
Bernhard

Re: npar-commands on a rp7410 - unsupported platform?
I searched for some more information on my (non-cell based) system about the nParMgr:
Prerequisites
SysMgmtHomepage.SMH-RUN required by PartitionManager
Corequisites
PartitionManager.PARMGR,r>=B.11.11.02.% required by ...
Jdk15.JDK15,r>=1.5.0 | Jdk14.JDK14,r>=1.4.2 | ...
Jre15.JRE15,r>=1.5.0 | Jre14.JRE14,r>=1.4.2 | ...

SystemAdmin.SAM,r>=B.11.11.% required by PartitionMa ...
NPartition.NPARCMDS-RUN,r>=A.00.01.% required by Par ...
Most of the components have some more dependencies.
Because your current software is some old now (september 2005), I would consider to do a "swverify \*" first and look for problems, then install the latest patch bundles from here:
http://www11.itrc.hp.com/service/patch/releasePage.do?BC=main|releaseIndexPage|&releaseId=0806-11.11
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.
