nslookup timeout and auto_parms
To Mr. Kofi ARTHIABAH,
Know I'm again working on this problem.(see December 21: nslookup timeout)
I've again reconfigured my Primary Master Server as originally. (whit "hosts_to_named -d mecasoft.com -n 193.72.242" ... etc.)
I've modified the gateway in /etc/rc.config.d/netconf : GATEWAY[0]=""
and the ROUTE_COUNT[0]="".
The problems are:
a)
By boot, before the msg "STARTUP in progress" I receive the msg "... auto_parms[10] Syntax error". After that the msgs from "STARTUP in progress" are all OK.
b)
The problem with nslookup remains, but I understand your explanation:
-" The problem is that your machine is a stand alone and you are telling it that its root name servers are on the internet (which it cannot reach ) that it why it fails. IF your server was on the internet, it probably would work."
I'm very greatful for an Idea of problem a).
For the "nslookup" problem I think that I should insert my server on my network or Have you an other possibilty to test it?
With bests regards
ulisse

Re: nslookup timeout and auto_parms
If you are not using DHCP, I wouldn't worry about the auto_parms error. To test nslookup without the server on the network, have your /etc/nsswitch.conf set to look at files and move your /etc/resolv.conf to /etc/resolv.bak.
