Hi Sysadmins,
We are having 100 to 200 HP-Server & Workstations. We are planning to implement a NTP Server
i.e.,Our servers are connected in the following n/w 172.20.30.1 - 172.20.30.249
We are planning to configure 172.20.30.100 as NTP Server (HP-UX 10.20)
Through SAM, i configured NTP Server and i put an entry in client machine /etc/ntp.conf as
server 172.20.30.100,if any thing have to proceed, guide me what are the activities to configure in the server and clients.
Regards
-Balaji

Re: NTP Server setup in 10.20
Hi Balaji,
Because your server are all on the same subnet, I would tink you wanna setup your server as an ntp-broadcast server and let your clients listen to that server.
Regards,
Robert-Jan.

Re: NTP Server setup in 10.20
Really easy, just setup the server using Sam and point it to an internet source if you want, but it is not needed.
Then use Sam on each client and point them to the server as primary.
No need to use broadcast on the server.
After configuring the client, tell Sam to start the service.
After a few minutes, there will be messages in /var/adm/syslog/syslog.log showing that the client connected and has changed its clock.
The clients must be within 10 minutes of the server clock or you will have to manually put them in that interval.
