For the past few months or so, I have read much of the posting that has been submitted to this forum, and would like to relate some of my personal observations concerning the ITRC Forums, with specific attention given to the HP-UX Forum members.
I have, in the past been a contributing member of an IT forum/newsgroup, and never have I witnessed a more professional group of people that I have here in this forum, you are all to be commended.
The way in which you approach the questions that are posted, be they simple basic questions, or at a much loftier technical level, all are answered with astute aplomb, and with a care ( a go out of your way to help the person so to speak) that is at times, astounding.
I have been associated with other groups where the emphaisis on "help" has taken a back seat to the all out flaming of other members, out and out blatant wrong answers, and the overall childish behavior of some unruly schoolyard.
It's so nice to find that there still are professional people out there, willing to donate there time and energy in helping other people in need.
To all the hatted and hatted to be, you have my utmost respect.

Re: Observations without reservations
And to think that some here have said that I have a way with words. They obviously have yet to read statements such as this from you.
I don???t know that I deserve to be included in this praise, but I thank you for the kind sentiments.
Much like Steven, I will try my best to live up to this as well.
Humbly,
John

Re: Observations without reservations
There is no question that the community members of the ITRC Forums make this place what it is today. As you have stated, it is the members who decide what type of community they are going to belong to. The professionals here contribute a high level of expertise, knowledge and experience while conducting themselves in a very professional manner. Their behavior, contributions, and overall participation from the outset has molded this community into a very valuable support resource.
This place has also created a lot of friends both online and offline. I suspect that when the earliest members of this community joined and began contributing they didn't think they would become more than acquaintences on a professional level. Not so...many communicate with one another via email, chat rooms, phone. People such as Jim Ferguson, Clay Stephenson, Rita Workman, Patrick Wallek, etc., set the tone for this place back when the first forums URL was available. You might call them the original city council. :)
Personally, I appreciate the effort of everyone in keeping this place moving along so smoothly. I also appreciate you taking notice Michael. Thanks for pointing out the dedication of so many IT professionals who frequent these forums.
Thanks,
Dan
