Online-JFS Install Issues

I'm re-posting this issue since I haven't been able to make any headway ... I will attach the requisite data to keep this thread much shorter than the last.

I am trying to install Online-JFS 4.1 on my 11.23 system that appears (to me) to have the base VXFS / VXVM 4.1 packages. The analysis fails (I have tried both O-JFS & O-JFS with re-install.) Each time I have tried this, I come to the same impass and can't quite figure out what's holding me up - afterall - it looks like the install should work.

Please note, I haven't actually "done" the install yet - just gotten through analysis and canceled when it failed. Any help here would be great - perhaps I should be trying with O-JFS 3.5? I've got to get this system set up fairly soon, and I don't have a testbed or many opportunities to install. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Why are you forcing reinstalling all patches/filesetes? If you are using the command line leave out the "-x reinstall.." option. If you are using the menu based swinstall go in the options menu and disable that option.
Most of the patches in the Online-JFS are already installed you don't need to reinstall them. And most of them allow you to reinstall over them except the PHKL_31500 patch which is a special patch.

I am not forcing a re-install. I attached two logs and the output of swlist to this thread. One log is an attempt to just install onlineJFS with NO REINSTALL, the other log does have reinstall checked. I did this to see what the difference would be - if any - in the packages selected. (Thinking perhaps it may re-install a missing vxfs component or otherwise correct the error.)

Please - I've had to state this several times now - I'm just trying to include all of the things I tried to make sure and have everything out there and available. I have not done the install yet because the analyze keeps failing.

OK, sorry I only looked at ne file and saw the reinstall errors and thought that was the problem

Looking at the other files, it seems to me that you currently don't have the 4.1 VxFS- Base bundle. So first you need to upgrade the current VxFS-Base to 4.1 before you can install the OnlineJFS 4.1

All the dependancies about quota_enh etc. are NOT in your system and they are part of VxFS-Base 4.1.

This is why I am confused ... it looks like vxfs 4.1 is there, but only partially. Is it really an older version - perhaps 3.5 that is installed? If I install base-vxfs 4.1 and reboot, then try the install do you think I will have better luck? It would seem odd that they could not be installed together.

I am guessing you do NOT have the base 4.1. It is probably 3.5. There is mention of these add-ons on page 16 in

I don't think you could have 4.1 installed without these add-ons get installed as well.

So, yes install base4.1 and the add-ons and the install OnlineJFS 4.1

Turns out I was on 3.5 ... thanks for the help.
