Any supporters of openmail out there. Every once in a while I get a process 'ual.remote' that has a super long run time and chews at the CPU resources. Can anyone tell me what this process is. There are many of them, up to 700 at a time. But 99% of them run and expire. Is it a user connection? the ual.remote that is giving me problems is owned by root. The kill command against this process seems has no effect. Any way to get rid of this process?
Thanks,
Bob

Re: OPENMAIL PROBLEM
Just a hunch. Check out its parent process and its child process. Try killing its child process, then kill this process. If that doesn't work, try killing its parent process, then kill this process. If kill -HUP doesn't work, try kill -KILL. The last resort would be to reboot the server.
Hope this helps. Regards.

Solutionual.remote is indeed the remote client interface process, one per user currently logged on. Whilst they're opening their mailboxes, this process will climb in CPU usage, but should settle down as they start normal mailbox usage.
As for the one owned by root, can you see which user's mailbox is being opened - it should be possible from the ps output, and compare it with "omstat -u rci"

Re: OPENMAIL PROBLEM
Yes it a user connection process. It shld be only one process for EACH Connected client. Also pls tell me how many users are configured and concurrently connected at the same time.
