OpenSSH timeout problem

Hi again Administrators,

I'm trying to connect my HP-UX 11 server using ssh client. It works, but after sometimes the connection broke down.
There is a firewall between my pc and HP-UX server.
The fact is that: I see some documentation about OpenSSH and it speak about KeepAlive connection parameters.
I also tryed to set TMOUT parameter in /etc/profile to 36000 value, but the problem is not solved.
From my point of view the router/firewall can broke the connection indipendently from my sshd configuration. Do you agree with me ?
Any ideas ?

Thanks in advance.

Re: OpenSSH timeout problem

You might wish to figure out whether its the firewall or the TMOUT parameter that is zapping you.

Instead of increasing TMOUT, comment it out of /etc/profile or unset it in .profile for the user in question.

If you still get bounced, its the firewall.

Re: OpenSSH timeout problem

Hi Steven and all,

thank you for your answer.
I agree with you but I would like to know something about the KeepAlive parameter on sshd_config.
If is not a router/firewall router, can this parameter solve my problem related to timeout after sometimes ?
In my sshd_config that parameter is commented. Should I comment out it and restart sshd daemon ?
Which is the correct syntax to restart and reload configuration file in sshd daemon ? kill -sighup

Thanks a lot.
