Optimize backup performance with Arcserve client
Inheriting an established shop - ARCserver cleint backups to Wintel server seem painfully slow over a 1Gb LAN.
Contents of the uag.cfg is:
-b 24576
-c 50
-s 65536
-m 1024
-S
Any help or advice as to how to start understanding/figuring this out would be greatly appreciated. Was thinking of getting HPPPA but have suspicion it's more basic and fundamental of a problem.

Re: Optimize backup performance with Arcserve client
Shalom,
From the HP-UX standpoint.
Run lanadmin -x 0
(change the zero to the active lan, lan0 means zero lan9 means 9)
Make sure you are getting GB performance.
In HP-UX GB lan cards must be set to auto negotiate and they must be connected to switches configured the same way.

Re: Optimize backup performance with Arcserve client
Hi Steven,
Yeah, that was the very first thing I checked.
I did the normal network related tests - netstat -i, ping, traceroute, and even FTP's between the two boxes where the numbers were 2x if not 3x as fast.
