Oracle 64/32 install

Hi, I have an HP11 64bit OS, and need to install a 64 bit oracle. I though oracle auto detected the 64bit OS, and installed 64 bit oracle but oracle only installs 32 bit. Also, oracle doesn't give a choice during the install. Can someone help?

Re: Oracle 64/32 install

Hi Mike:

You didn't mention what version but my 8.0.6, 8.1.6, and 8.1.7 media comes in two flavors.
e.g. Oracle Enterprise Server and Oracle Enterprise Server (64-bit). If the CD label does not expressly state 64-bit, it is the 32-bit version. My media packs include both versions.

If it ain't broke, I can fix that.

Re: Oracle 64/32 install

Hi
Been there done that!

You got to use the disk labeled 64 bit, or else you get the 32 bit version.

In the early releases of the 8.1.7 package the 64 bit version wasn't included.
