Have you installed Oracle and then deleted the filesystem or a portion of it including the installation log, if you have this could be part of the cause

Hi Robaby,

As your previous installation seems to be corrupted anyway, I guess that the only option left is to ignore the message and continue with tne new install.
If you have suppressed the files manually, and have no backup at hand, there is no alternative.

Hi again,

OK. Log in as oracle and make sure the environment variable ORACLE_BASE is properly set.
The directory you are using, doensn't correspond to the recommended Oracle File Architecture.
ORACLE_BASE should be set to /u01/app/oracle
ORACLE_HOME should be set to /u01/app/oracle/product/8.x

Restart your installation after having verified that your ORACLE_BASE is the same as the one you used for the previous installation.
