Re: Oracle RAC, VCS & Network requirements
The minimum requirement is one NIC card. It needs to be on the same subnet as the other nodes.
It is advisable to have a standby NIC card and even a third for the ServiceGuard Heartbeat.

SolutionIt´s possible to configure a RAC cluster with one NIC card, but, in real world, you will have a lot of performance problem. It´s advisable to have at least two NIC cards, one for client conection and other for Oracle Cache Fusion (also knowned as RAC heart beat). If you use SGeRAC, you will have a thirty NIC card, which will be stand by for any one of the other cards.
In our case, we have a cluster with two rp4440, storage XP256 and four NIC cards in each server: we have two stand-by. They are crossed in two Cisco switches in order to avoid single-point failure.
We use SGeRAC and Oracle 9i.
