OS upgrade to 11.23

Hi Friends,

I am planning to upgrade the hp-ux 11.11 to 11.23 in my production servers.

Configuration : RP8420/hp-ux 11.11/Oracle 10g/EMC clarrion CX600/ Powerpath 5.1.0

Please advice me about the upgradation.

Regards,
SHR

Re: OS upgrade to 11.23

The installation and upgrade guide is here:

http://docs.hp.com/en/5992-1978/index.html

Consider doing a cold install rather than an upgrade if you can (only really works if you can accurately determine your system configuration and know what files to chnage on the root vg)

If going down the upgrade route I'd unmount your SAN volume groups and uninstall PowerPath before doing the upgrade - don't know what the impact would be of doing an upgrade with non-HP kernel components in the mix.

Given that support for 11.23 terminates at the same time as 11.11, is there any reason you're not upgrading to 11.31?

Re: OS upgrade to 11.23

I have to say, I am a fan of cold installs, in the end if you have everything ready is much quicker than update-ux.

Some points to remember

1. Take an ignite image(or 2) of your server
2. Check the firmware/hardware compatibilty of your devices/server with nthe new version.
3. Check you have the correct software for your version(oracle, powerpath)
4. gather ALL the info posible of the server, take a cfg2html,and all your server configuration.

Windows?, no thanks

I have made some upgrade successfull with the upgrade methode ... I always made a backup first because sometime the upgrade is not good at all..
