In patching terminology what is the meaning of "PHCO_27731 is supersedes by PHCO_29633"

Hi Shiva,

HP patches are required to completely replace earlier patches. A newer version of a patch is said to supersede an earlier version. A patch fileset's supersedes attribute lists all previous patch filesets that it supersedes.

In you case PHCO_29633 is the latest patch for fixing the same problems, which have been fixed by PHCO_27731. Here PHCO_27731 is the SUPERSEDED patch and PHCO_29633 is the SUPERDEDING patch.

You may go ahead by installing PHCO_29633 instead of PHCO_27731.

With all the explanation given above, PHCO_29633 not only has all the fixes of PHCO_27731, it also has more fixes than PHCO_27731.
