Re: Password setup on single user mode boot
The ONLY way to reset your root password if forgotten is to boot to single-user. If you password protect single-user you have absolutely no way to access the system as root ever again except for a reinstall or Ignite recovery of the system.

No differences in the password file or how the commands work.
The commands may be a bit tough to find and the terminal emulation will not permit back spaces.
