PATCH REMOVE

Turns out I had a bad patch downloaded from HPWS. I have a few filesets that wont configure,get a gzip compression error. My plan is to remove the OpenMail patch and install a newer one. Any watchouts or software remove instructions are welcome. Do you think I should remove this 1/2 loaded patch or just install a newer periodic patch.

The only precaution I would take is to make sure you have a few good data backups and a few good make_recovery's before starting. If the patch failed to install, then it shouldn't be 1/2 installed, that's not the way swinstall works, unless it was manually interupted. Does it show up in a swlist? If not, just download the newer patch and install it.

Hi Bob,

You should swremove the bad patch before installing a newer version just in case there is a problem later with the newer one and it needs to be removed. Alternatively, you could re-install the current patch if you use -x reinstall=true.

#swlist
if this is listing the patch that you are half installed, then remove that using #swremove
and install the completely downloaded patch.
If swlist is not listing the patch, then you can go ahead with installing the newly downloaded one.

When I do a swlist, the filesets show up as installed, not configured. When I try to configure I get a gzip error. However, some binary files in the /opt/openmail/bin directory have a date that equals the install.So leet me get this straight and I'll logout. Majority says to remove the old and install the new.
