Patches need need for installing Oracle

Hi we have HP server rx2620 , ia64. I have to update and install required pathes for installing oracle .I'm not sure wich version will be installed and good for this machine.

Is any can assist me.what is the latest oracle version ? what pathes needto be installed? and what else need to be done before installing Oracle.

If you should install Oracle 10G, when you launch instllation , a script with patch required check if patch are present or not.

thanks for your reply .Oracle will install by BDA. I think teh yr installing oracle1 10G.

They want me to update and Install all required pathes before they start installing.

Like Ludovic said. When you install Oracle it will run a annlyze phase and inform you of what patches are needed or missing. It's also nice idea to keep up the most current patch bundle from HP.

Firstly you must determine which Oracle DB version you are going to install

those are the latest Oracle release supported in hpux

If the DBAs are installing 10g R1 then you'll probably want to start by reading the installation notes here:

Chapter 2 details the software requirements. Make sure you (or more likely your DBAs) also check out the Metalink note mentioned by whiteknight as that tends to have more up to date information than the installation guide.

Note that this list exceeds the bi-annual patch release from HP-UX.
