pci dual nic in a C200

I'm trying to get a dual nic card working in a C200. I'm looking for some information or location of information that might be helpful in getting this to work.

Where I'm at:

I received this dual nic that came out of a B132/180. But, I don't know if it was running hp-ux or a version of bsd/linux.

with the card installed the boot menu's information does show the pci card with two ethernet interfaces.

once booted the card doesn't show up in ioscan.
using xstm the pci bus adaptor shows up ok, but no ethernet interfaces.

So, it would seem I don't have the appropriate drivers in the kernel. So, can anyone help me out with what drivers are needed? (the builtin 10/100 ethernet interface is working just fine).

And, if necessary, what software depot the driver comes in? if it isn't part of the general installation.

and if anyone needs it, the cards part number is OEM9334bdt manufacture by smc. i didn't see any hp numbers on it.

So, can anyone answer my questions regarding the software? or point me to some manuals?

thanks

Re: pci dual nic in a C200

Hi,

For the card, load the driver from the 1st application cd. The software would be in the same name as the card model. There should be a model number on the back of the card, look for a package of the same name in the 1st app cd and load that. You probably need a driver. At present if you do a ioscan, does it shows as unclaimed.

Hope this helps.

Re: pci dual nic in a C200

well i don't have a model number. usually hp has there numbers pasted all over the place. but, there aren't any in this case.

maybe it is just me, but only 100bt networking depots i see on the application cd's (11.11) are for esia and hp-pb which this is neither

no nothing shows up in the ioscan for this card.

everything that is in ioscan is claimed. this isn't there at all

Re: pci dual nic in a C200

oops i guess i'm a bit fast in giving that answer. ioscan with other options does show the interfaces.

Re: pci dual nic in a C200

Looks like you have an unsupported card. If it is not, then there will be no drivers for it.

Re: pci dual nic in a C200

Likely as not, the B132/B180 was probably running BSD - to the best of my knowledge, HP has not OEM'd a dual-port 100BT NIC from SMC. In fact, i think the only dual-port 100BT NIC we did was an HSC card, not PCI (although we did do a four-port PCI).

Drivers supplied by HP with HP-UX, or for HP-UX part number NICs will only bind to NICs with matching subvendor ID information, even if the components are otherwise the same.

So, I suspect you will not be able to get that NIC to be recognized - unless perhaps SMC has a driver on their website.
