ping source quench - packet loss
hello all
on a hpux b11.11 server, having disabled quench (ip_send_source_quench=0 ), what kind of icmp reply should do i expect from the server now? Pinging the server from a router, should i expect a "packet loss"?

Re: ping source quench - packet loss
The expected ICMP reply type would be "ICMP Echo Reply" aka "pong"... exactly as before disabling source quench.
The source quench option is not at all related to server's response to ICMP pings. If enabled, the server will reply with a "source quench" packet only if someone is sending traffic to the server faster than it can handle. It's an indication of "slow down, I'm overloaded at the moment".
