Plain black screen background on Boot: Ubuntu Linux on HPE ProLiant ML370 G5
Hi guys,
Full plain Black screen background appears when I boot my HPE ProLiant ML370 G5 server with Ubuntu Desktop. I can access the GRUB menu and boot in recovery mode, but regular booting leads to the black screen.
Here is what i have tried so far:
- Enabled proprietary repositories.
- Updated the system via GUI and CLI.
- Installed and enabled LightDM.
None of these have resolved the issue. Do I need to use recovery mode every time, or is there a permanent fix for this? Suggestions are welcome!

Re: Plain black screen background on Boot: Ubuntu Linux on HPE ProLiant ML370 G5
Are you able to access BIOS or are there any POST?
If there are no errors on BIOS and the server completes the POST and boots to Recovery/Safe mode, there could be an issue on the OS front.
Please check with the OS vendor for any corruption on the OS end.
