Re: Please Post Forums Issues - June 2005

Hi, this is more of a suggestion than a problem as such but here goes: -

I noticed on my forum that I've assigned points to 103 of 104 answers. Most likely a question I asked years ago and forgot about had a new answer.

So, whilst I like to keep points assigned and up to date, this means trawling through every question I've asked in my profile until I find the one with a new answer.

How about in the view of "my questions" under your profile, a little symbol of some sort showing any threads that have unread/unmarked answers? (a nice shiny start implying new for example) Would save a lot of time trawling through, especially for people who have asked many questions. May give people more incentive to assign points etc.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - June 2005

hi simon,

i thot the link for "unassigned points" under my question(s) is good enough to locate and keep track of points not assign.

for your case:

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/pageList.do?userId=BR68808&listType=unassigned&forumId=1

just my comments.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - June 2005

Joseph

You are of course correct, I had never seen that option before! I usually go to the link "my questions" at the top of my profile, which does not have this option. The option only appears at the bottom of the main profile page. Perhaps then duplicate the link on the actual "my questions" page for daft people like me? ;)

I'll get my coat...

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - June 2005

Hi Cheryl or Dan,

I created this congratulation thread
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=901992
(if somebody will congratulate can click)
and I have to open it to see new posts.
This happens with thread created by other fellows.
I have no any other information about this trouble but I'm monitoring for furthermore information.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - June 2005

Has something changed in the JavaScript routines lately?

I've got two deifferent computers, using two different browsers, and both are having trouble with the Javascript now (and thus not loading the stylesheet).

I'll poke and prod them both some more, but it's been happening for 3 days now (and one of those machines has been rebuilt during that time).

Ah, ignore that previous post. Loose some congestion on my link, clear some caches, and it's working better now.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - June 2005

Ah Huh! Firefox on a FC4 box (FireFox 1.0.4) has issues with the javascript! The error is as follows:

Error: syntax error
Source File: http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do???en.wpa.link.hpweb.javascript_dir???hpweb_utilities.js
Line: 14
Source Code:

system unavailable

I've tested with FireFox 1.0.4 under Windows works ok. I'm unsure of the difference in the engine.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - June 2005

I'd like to echo the request to remove, or at least delay, the option to close a thread.

I look at the daily email message showing new threads, I don't sit monitoring the forums as some seem to do ;-), and it is frustrating to see a thread has already been closed when the answers given so far are incorrect or incomplete.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - June 2005

Cheryl, Dan.

I just finished posting the previous entry.

Took me > 10 minutes, and a handfull of "Error while posting the reply"

Earlier today I have experienced the forums as alternating between working and "System unavailable" at least half a dozen times.

What _IS_ happening?

Just knowing what is happening is less frustrating than this Casino approach.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - June 2005

Hi,

Like several others, I too have stopped receiving the daily emails. (as of 31/5/05)

I have unchecked and rechecked my options, but to no avail.

Our email guy, says nothing is being blocked.

Any ideas ?

Thanks,

Matt
