Re: Please Post Forums Issues - May 2005

Probably a Linux thread, though perhaps a hardware issue preventing the Linux load. Hard to tell.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - May 2005

It appeared that no-one could post to the ITRC from around 02h40GMT today.
I have alerted Dan and Cheryl about this

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - May 2005

Addition to Melvyn's note:

No browser could post around 10 p.m. Central last night. Same deal 20-22 hours earlier.

I gave up. No real content loss though.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - May 2005

My respnose times to the forums is abysmal, and has been so for the past 12 or so hours.

It's only in the past few that I've been able to post again.

Earlier (about 10-12 hours ago), I was getting 'Error while posting the reply.', but browsing the forums was reasonably snappy.

Now, it's all horrible.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - May 2005

Yesterday I was unable to post. I got an error something like "error posting - unable to post".

Also, the forum asked me for my ID and password in a popup ID window even after I had alread logged in. Odd..

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - May 2005

Hi,

What Stuart said yesterday 'bout not being able to post, happened to me also; and today again.
Initial URL:
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/postanswer.do?threadid=868794&forumId=1
then after hitting the "submit>>" button, the URL becomes:
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/postanswertrxn.do
and the message:
"Error while posting the reply."

Furthermore, no refresh for several hours.
Something the matter with the server?

Kris (aka Qkcl)

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - May 2005

Just want to support Kris. Even creating a new entry trying to describe this error in the ITRC forums general category failed. I've been trying to post a reply in the OpenVMS forum since about 05:30 GMT today !

The same thing happened yesterday.

How come that 'suddenly' around 11:30 GMT everything seems to be working again. Who's getting up at that time and fixing something ?!

A little bit frustrated ;-(

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - May 2005

Yes, the "error posting reply" looks like becoming standard during US nighttime.

I would assume a worldwide service to also have an 'around-the-clock' surveillannce?

This week up till now it looks like ITRC is non-functioning before 1300 hours (CET).

Being a techie myself, I always find the absence of a description of service interrupt (any kind, not only IT!!) always even more unacceptable than the interruption itself.

So, please tell us, "What is going wrong?"

Proost.

Have one on me.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - May 2005

Having a bad week. No need to cut off posting while I'm sleeping, give other people a chance to earn some points.

Seriously, just a hint: This mimics a problem I had at my old employer when we were taking a hot database backup. The database wanted to issue an End Transaction (SAG) and held up everything until it could issue a clean checkpoint to its recovery file. (Oracle equivalent, redo logs and archive logs.)

Whatever is going on it effects all browsers and went on for over five hours last night until I gave up and went to sleep.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - May 2005

Only posting this because the timeframe is different, I had the error posting reply during an afternoon timeframe, though for the life of me, I can't recall if it was Tuesday or Monday afternoon, ET, US.
