Re: Please Post Forums Issues - October 2004!

Hi All,

Thanks for the feedback. Items 5,9, and 10 on Pete's list, along with John & Michael's point around assigning points before closing a thread, are on the priority list. Jan, sorry for the delay. I'll look into the adding of the category you requested.

Regards,
Dan

Please have your designers look at the bottom of this post.

Something in the HijackThis logs seems to be causing the post to go crazy. These are only text files done with notepad so there aren't any hidden control characters. I reported a similar problem at the end of the September Forum Issues but as I guess you were in a hurry to switch to October and didn't see it.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - October 2004!

Hi Ron,

Thanks for the heads up,

the problem is caused in IE by the "=" at the end of the urls you had posted in your reply, I've removed them and the thread is formatted correctly in IE now.

The lab are aware of this problem and are working on a fix,

Cheers,

I suggest that below 50% assignment rate in either thread or overall should not be permitted to close thread.

To Procura:

XIn thread

you entered the statistics for Volker, but if you read the thread opener again, you will notice it deals with TWO promotions at the same time.
Perhaps you couls add the statistics for Kris as well?

Of, Merijn, heb je zo'n hekel aan Belgen dat je die overslaat? :-)
Kris is echt een fantastische vent!

Cheers.

The following thread is misplaced, I think it belongs in a PC or Windows forum:

I know, I'm mouse impaired or something.

If someone wishes to have mercy on me and take out the first post, I'd owe them a beer. Keep track, you'll do well.

This could get pricey. I'm keeping track of debts which could grow quickly. I'll provide a remote methodology for me paying them off if I don't travel soon to my creditors city.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - October 2004!

Hey Dan,

I just posted a message in the Server/9000 section. The fist time I tried submitting it (16:46 MST) I got a "Error submitting Post" message. It didn't give any error codes or anything, just told me that there was an error. I went back and retried posting, and it worked fine.

I have also tried posting this, but got a "error posting reply" error message. (16:53 MST) If it posts now, it only happened once.

Not sure that it will help, but there you go.

Thanks

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - October 2004!

Hi Dan,

I think 'my favorites' is a good idea, but it does not go quite far enough. It would be nice to have an additional column in the forum profile. In this column, the profile owner could make a note which would be a reminder of why this thread is noteworthy. It is not enough to rely on the Subject field, because many thread authors don't capture the essence of the thread in the Subject field.

I think my suggestion would help make the Forums more searchable (as a workaround).

Is my suggestion even possible?

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - October 2004!

My last post is irralvent in this thread. There are replies to both threads. If you can combine them, cool, don't know what else to say.

Been a 15 hour day here, memory upgrade after hours. Part of life in the IT lane.

Hmmm. Catchy phrase. Time to go home and have a beer.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - October 2004!

Dan,

would this thread not be better located in "ITRC forums" forum? It is about the ITRC forums, nothing HPUX specific.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - October 2004!

Don't know if it's the right place...

I have a problem with the software.hp.com site. I'm trying to download CIFS client, and clicking on the "receive for free" button brings me an error.

I'm looking for a way to solve or an alternate download site.

Regards,

Fred
