Re: Please Post Forums Issues - October 2004!

Hi Fred,

If you click on the "Contact HP" link at the top left of the software page you can report the error there, the webmasters will look into it for you,

Cheers,

The contact hp button should bring you to a feedback page. If not, use this direct link

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - October 2004!

Hi,

Every time I type something into the Search window at the top of the screen and press the little blue arrow button, my browser waits and waits and waits and waits and waits and waits and waits and waits and waits and waits and then it gives me this message in a popup window:

europe-support.external.hp.com could not be found. Please check the name and try again.

Seems odd that the search engine sends me across the deep, briny ocean only to be turned back at the shore. :)

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - October 2004!

HP SG question that should move to the new Linux SG section.

This time, the link: prior post is valueless and should go away.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - October 2004!

Unless Ignite has been ported to Linux(hint, hint, good suggestion):
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=726624

The above thread is lost and needs to move to HP-UX.

This thread is duplicated in HP-UX, seems it belongs there, not Linux.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - October 2004!

Dan,

Response times in the last half hour or so have been measured in minutes, starting around 9:30AM EDT. I even tried Internet Exploder with no better results.

Pete,
We caught it pretty quick. It was reported to the lab and seems to be resolved now.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - October 2004!

Last night from 9-11 PM Central.

Kept tying to post a solution to an ssh question, real slam dunk btw.

Got the error posting on the following combinations:

mozilla 1.4 HP-UX 11i
mozilla 1.6 Linux ES 3.0 Rel 1
IE 6.0 Windows 2003.

Obviously the realignment of earthly magnetic forces caused by the Boston Red Sox world series victory affected system access.

Just wanted someone to know about the problems.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - October 2004!

Steven,
Please note that we're working on it. Dan has opened up a couple tickets with the labs yesterday alone. A bad card was identified and these performance hits could be related to that. Note sure but it's definitely under investigation.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - October 2004!

Dan and Steven,

I was seeing the same posting errors yesterday afternoon around 4:30 pm EDT, along with intermittant response time. I eventually closed my browser and reconnected and didn't have any problems after that.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - October 2004!

I think the Red Sox's good times started when Sam Malone gave up drinking and opened a bar.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - October 2004!

There are few things I would like to discsuss here.

1. there can be soome polite way of intimating the questioner that he shall assign points to answers. Whenever user asks question for first time, he shall get a notification saying his presence in the forum is important, however it is also necessary that he shall assign points to answers he gets to his questions.

2. There shall be someway of finding out just profiler specific questions..Like if I have answered some question, I shall be able to customise my profile to just see what I have answered in last 7 days or likewise..

3. Questions can be quoted critical, non-critical. It will be good idea to have something on this.

Thats about it..

Hope this will be taken further.

Thanks and regards

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - October 2004!

And the good times seem to be coming back to Everton as well (which probably won't mean anything to you, SEP - the Red Sox's good fortune was reported on the BBC, but I don't think you get to hear so much about our football).

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - October 2004!

About Prashant suggestions :

1. When a user have a particular percentage of non-rated answers, he could be reminded when creating a new thread...

2. In your profile page, at the bottom of both "my responses" and "my solutions" you have a "more..." entry displaying respectively all your answers and solutions, sorted by date.

3. I have seen so many people sending all there mails with a high priority, that I don't think people should affect prority to their threads themselves.

Regards,

Fred

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - October 2004!

Oh ok then, a serious post.

I agree with Prashant and would go a stage further: I closed a thread earlier this week and right at the bottom of the screen was a reminder to assign points. I believe this reminder would have more impact if it were above the "closure details" box rather than below it.

How about sending the user to a screen, after they have completed closure details, which gives them a choice:

1. last chance to assign points

2. return to previous screen.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - October 2004!

Diagnostic.

Intermittant error like last night at the timestamp of my last post in this thread.

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=728624

Maybe it can help the labs.
