Re: Please Post Forums Issues - September 2004!

More fuel on the fire (or something like that):

Using the "classic search" (entering search criteria on the top of this page and clicking on the blue arrows) with Netscape 7.x under HP-UX 11i, it works fine!

The same test using Netscape 7.x under WinblowsXP fails. However, IE under XP succeeds.

I have no idea whether that helps or just confuses the issue but I'm bored and it gave me something to do! ;^)

My search is Windows IE 5.5 classic blue button.

Muddy the waters a bit more.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - September 2004!

I get the same thing with Opera 7.54 and Netscape 7.1 and Internet Exploder 6.0 on WinXP Pro.

Firefox 0.9.3 on the same machine works fine.

Even more muddy now?

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - September 2004!

Good point, Steve - I could be more specific!

The successes were IE 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422-1633 under XP and Netscape 7.0 (HP-UX). The failure was Netscape 7.1 (XP).

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - September 2004!

My issue is very simple and I hope don't offend any unix friend.

May current thread moved in
"Your questions regarding ITRC Forums" ?
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/categoryhome.do?categoryId=296

I know unix people are the most numerous fellows in this web site and here is apparently easier to read for them; but in unix area there are a lot (many) threads while in "Your questions regarding ITRC Forums" it's quiet.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - September 2004!

Antonio,
The ITRC Forums category is for posting issues regarding the usage of the ITRC Forums.

We move all non-ITRC related questions to the appropriate forum.

Users should keep their profile bookmarked as an easy way to find their own questions/responses. It is much faster finding your posts that way.

Best Wishes,
Cheryl

Cheryl
my opinion is current thread may be interesting for other people too, while now it's seeming only for unix fellows.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - September 2004!

I believe what Antonio is suggesting is that this thread, "Please Post Forums Issues - September 2004!", doesn't belong under 'IT resource center forums | HP-UX | general ', but rather under 'IT resource center forums | Your questions regarding ITRC Forums'. This is because it is not directly related to HP-UX, but to the ITRC forums themselves.

Where it is now, the thread may not be found by those not following the HP-UX forums.

Ah. Thank you for the clarification.

There was some discussion about moving the thread to the ITRC section in the past. Let's see what Dan says.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - September 2004!

Andrew is right. Antonio is right. This is a general matter,ot a HP-UX one. I just remembered to have some suggestion to be posted in this one - found it to reside under HP-UX in stead of ITRC general.
So I'd double the remark: place it where it belongs: ITRC general (or even: ITRC monthly)

My two-penny worth!

Occasionaly, when accessing forum pages, I suddenly start getting JavaScript errors.

I'm not sure if this is because the code has bugs, or hasn't loaded properly, but refreshing the page doesn't help.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - September 2004!

One other thing, around etticate.

A lot of the threads I read go completely off topic.

I know this is a problem in all electronic dicussion groups, but seems to be more prevelent in this one, or at least the VMS groups I read.

Perhaps you could reiterate the need to keep messages on topic, or start a new thread.

Cheryl,
I've respect for your opinion expecially you are HP moderator.
I'm amazed someone removed my invitation about this thread: it seems somebody is hungry for talking to fellows with different ideas.
I guess under HP's roof not only unix people can help and other technical men can work fine.

Cheryl,
please can you post the link about Dan answer about this argoument?

Thank you

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - September 2004!

Antonio,
Please do not be offended that I removed the other posts. We would like to keep forum issues contained in this thread. It allows us to manage all the requests in one area. Your request has been made and will be considered.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - September 2004!

Hi All (especially Antoniov!),

A little history -- this thread was started around 3 years ago. At first, it was not month to month, but simply one long thread that continued on (until someone suggested breaking it into monthly installments). It was started in the HPUX area since the area had the greatest member activity. The folks here were (are) great about providing feedback in a professional (partnering) manner.

Not long ago, the discussion area for general forums related questions was opened. The intent of the area was for members to ask usability questions (how do I do something...). As well, the limited audience of HPUX has allowed this thread to be manageable, versus having the many thousands of site-wide members submit the same feedback over and over. So, that is why this thread has remained in HPUX area. If it is that important to move it, I can, but I will also like to reserve the right to move it back here if it becomes too much to manage. I hope you understand.

Thanks,
Dan

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - September 2004!

Hi,

This question:

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=691235

was posted in the Open VMS forum. The author also posted it in the HP-UX Networking forum, so the one in the VMS side is redundant.

Thanks.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - September 2004!

I'm in favor of moving this monthly thread to the itrc general area as I don't do hpux.

On another topic I use Firefox 0.9 just fine for this.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - September 2004!

Maybe what you need for this thread is for it to live in multiple forums at the same time, kind of like a symlink file in Unix which actually points to another location. There would be just one issues thread but it would show up in all the major forums.

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - September 2004!

I was about to answer with almost exactly the same words as John Poff, so you'll have my vote on that :)

Of course I don't know how to do symlinks in Oracle, nor do I know where to put the points assigned to posts in the thread, because it is probably hard to detect from where the post was put (I know the detection isn't hard to detect, but there are a lot of other issues involved, making the thought as such quite complicated)

Re: Please Post Forums Issues - September 2004!

Hi Dan (and other),
sorry if I bustled this thread. I'm convinced HP UX people is most active in HP forum; mainly it's the reason of my request.
This thread should be more visible in ITRC area: there is quiet.

Pete, you asked for new category for congratulations, humors and other; didn't you think in ITRC could be added?

Merijn, didn't you think your useful statistics could be more readable in ITRC?

I'm happy to read your posts: now and in past they teached me a lot of things.

Thank you
