Could a moderator please take a look at this post:

In my eyes this is not appropriate for the forums. If I am wrong, please forgive me.

Dan could you please look at this thread I fell that the two that posted on here need to be reminded of how we are to treat others?http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=560449
I asked a simple question because I had a serious issue with a certain Pavillion Modelm and these clowns try to say I am not who I am and that I am doing something to time.
I don't understand but there behavior to a new member doesn't make one fell welcomed here.
I am not going to post or do anything tell you have a talk with these persons in this thread .
They should not treat others that way what goes around comes around and I don't think they want to get treated this way.
Please look into this and let me know if you can tell them that is not the way to treat others.

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - April 2004!

Chris,

Likely or not, your issue seems to be with HP. You've posted with a user forum, that is not communication with the company.

If you actually want the problem resolved direct contact is the way to go.

I think you have overreacted slightly to the commentary but as a new member it might be better to learn from more experienced members.

This forum is for information sharing, not resolving gripes with HP/Compaq.

Just a friendly suggestion.

Dan,

I thought posting info from the TKB directly into a posting was taboo. See below

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - April 2004!

I have the following Issues,

1. Using opera 7.23 on windows95 ,I can not reply to a post. Also it gives duplicate images of the page in the same window.
2. Why some of the threads does not fit in the window ( Netscape & IE) ? I have to scroll towards the left & right to read the message

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - April 2004!

That is a known issue with Opera 7.23. Get a later version of Opera.

The posts are generally wider than the screen when a long URL is posted. That is fairly normal as well.

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - April 2004!

Hi Dan,

Is there an official policy on humorous posts?

The reason I ask is that some go on for months and hundreds of entries, but one that was posted today was removed within an hour. I could see nothing offensive in the post and wonder if HP are beginning to see this as abuse. If so, we need to know so we can avoid making such posts in the future.

The removed post referred to how many forumers it takes to change a light bulb. I was finding it quite entertaining to browse this thread while waiting for a "find" command to complete.

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - April 2004!

Hi All, sorry for the late response....been hanging by a short vine over a pit of crocodiles -- and the travel agent said I'd have a great time!

procura, thanks for update on Opera.

John Collier, the forums don't support 2-byte characters, so most likely what happened.

Jeff, I've got the lab looking into why the replies don't appear on the thread you mention. Thanks for reporting.

Todd, I had reported your findings regarding the search results. FYI, click on 'more options' in top header and you'll find a better interface.

Stuart, the "open" or "save" is in place for users who wish to save to disk and scan before opening.

Patrick, thanks for getting Kapil going in right direction.

Stefan, not sure what is going on...I've reported it for investigation.

Mark, see http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/helptips.do?#overview for the 'offical' policy. Technically, any off-topic thread is to be removed, but we've let a few go on based on content.

Thanks,
Dan

LOL, thanks....looks like my ctrl-v had the wrong URL. I've replaced the incorrect URL with the correct one in my reply above. Thanks for pointing this out!

Dan,
I know other member asked you but I can't find the answer.
Why any member can't remove his own thread if nobody has yet answered?
Whye any member can't delete his post before nobody has already answered?

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - April 2004!

My only issue which I'm sure has come up a lot in these types of threads are people who don't give points.

Maybe we could post a smiley face next to users who give points to 90% or greater of their posts.

Hi Dan:

Low priority:
Can you tell me why when I go here:
http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/categoryhome.do?categoryId=208
I see only three messages on the first page and the 2nd and 3rd pages are blank?

I'm on WIN2K (all SPs, etc.) and IE6 (latest).

Thanks!

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - April 2004!

As suggested by kent, atleast there should be some measure of not assigning the points to particular no of threads.
Guys simply says, thanks for effort, i got my problem resolved and disappears.

Points not only increase your credabilty in the forums but for a individual he comes to know as how perfect he was in his suggestion. This also affects his support to the forthcoming threads. I see this as an important issue.

If anybody doesn't assign points to n (to be decided) number of threads, he should be remided regularly every time he raises a new thread.
It is important here to share the knowledge rather than earning points but points decide where you r exactly on the problem and helps that particular individual to improve/learn more.
You need to know a lot to actually know how little you know

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - April 2004!

Bharat, Kent,
points assignment it's old question.
Answer every question you know, then you'll receive point. Dont't worry.
For my expereince, first points are the hardest to conquer; yes sometimes you don't receive any point but sometime you can receive more points than you merit.

Opera fans, here you go!

--8<---
Hi all,

Opera 7.50 beta 1 for Linux, Solaris and FreeBSD is now available.

Download from:
http://www.opera.com/download/?ver=7.50b1

Please discuss this release in the opera.linux or opera.os.solaris newsgroups
or opera-linux mail list before submitting bugs to our BTS (Bug Tracking
System).

When you start a thread on opera.linux newsgroup or opera-linux mail list
please do not reply to this message. Instead: Write a subject line that
tells what you want to talk about. That way it is much simpler to keep
track of everything.

Changelog

Enjoy,
-->8---

I've not seen the Win32 announcement yet, but if I do, I'll let you know. Some searching on Opera.no might help.

Re: Please Post Your Forums Issues - April 2004!

Dan,

I realize this isn't your area but perhaps you could "wake up" the right people.

I have an issue with a support contract that I have been trying to post a question about using the "contact hp" page ( http://us-support.external.hp.com/usage/bin/doc.pl/screen=usageQuestion ). For four days now, all I get when I submit the question is an error message saying "hp regrets this service is temporarily unavailable". Somehow I need to have someone turn this service back on! Apparently nobody is monitoring the "contact hp" server that's tucked away in the broom closet. Could you contact someone for me? Please???

Pete
